Product overview

Guardivia Core Network Suite is a modular set of core-network software products covering subscriber management (HLR/HSS/UDM), SS7/SIGTRAN signaling and STP, CAMEL-based service control, USSD services, IMS-to-SMS interworking (IP-SM-GW), Diameter routing (DRA) and roaming. Modules deploy independently or together for MNOs, MVNOs, MVNEs and private LTE/5G networks. The Guardivia Operator SMSC is one integrated component of this suite, not the suite itself.

What is Guardivia Core Network Suite?

Guardivia Core Network Suite is a modular portfolio of core-network software: HLR/HSS/UDM subscriber management, SS7/SIGTRAN stack and STP, CAMEL Gateway, USSD Gateway, IP Short Message Gateway, Diameter and DRA platform and Roaming Suite. It serves MNOs, MVNOs, MVNEs and private LTE/5G networks over MAP, CAP, Diameter, SIGTRAN, SIP and HTTP/2, and is developed and supported in house by Guardivia.

Does Guardivia supply an OCS or PCRF?

No. Guardivia Core Network Suite exposes standard Diameter charging and policy interfaces (Gy, Gx, Gz, Ro, Rf, S9, Sh) and a Diameter Routing Agent so that operators connect any third-party OCS, PCRF or charging system. Guardivia provides the interfaces and routing platform, not the charging or policy decision engine, unless explicitly agreed.

Architecture

The suite is organised in functional layers. Subscriber management (HLR/HSS/UDM) is the identity and profile source for every generation. The signaling layer (SS7/SIGTRAN stack and STP) transports MAP, CAP and ISUP toward host and partner networks. Service control (CAMEL Gateway and USSD Gateway) implements prepaid and interactive services. The messaging layer (Operator SMSC and IP-SM-GW) delivers SMS across MAP, SMPP and IMS. The Diameter/DRA platform and Roaming Suite handle 4G/5G signaling, charging and policy interfaces and inter-operator roaming.

Each module can be deployed alone or co-located with others on the same servers. Charging and policy decisions stay with the operator's OCS and PCRF; Guardivia supplies the interfaces and routing.

Prepaid roaming call flow (illustrative)

An example showing how modules cooperate for a prepaid subscriber roaming abroad:

  1. 01

The visited MSC sends MAP Update Location; the STP routes it to the Guardivia HLR, which validates roaming permissions and returns the subscriber profile including O-CSI/VT-CSI.

  2. 02

The Roaming Suite triggers a welcome SMS through the Operator SMSC.

  3. 03

When the subscriber makes a call, the visited MSC sends CAP InitialDP to the CAMEL Gateway acting as SCP.

  4. 04

The CAMEL Gateway reserves credit from the operator's OCS over Gy or Ro and applies call control with mid-call supervision.

  5. 05

Roaming usage is recorded and reconciled through TAP3 and RAP processing.

  6. 06

All signaling is monitored by the STP and DRA with alarms exported to the NOC.

Use cases

Full MVNO core

HLR/HSS, STP, CAMEL, USSD, SMSC, IP-SM-GW, DRA and roaming deployed together so the MVNO controls identity, services and signaling.

HLR/HSS consolidation

An operator replaces separate 2G/3G HLR and LTE HSS with one subscriber platform exposing MAP, Diameter and HTTP/2.

USSD mobile money

A regulator-licensed mobile-money service is delivered via the USSD Gateway with REST integration to the wallet platform.

Private 5G campus

Guardivia supplies HSS/UDM and SMSC and integrates them with the campus AMF, SMF and UPF.

In-House Engineering Advantage

Owned end to end by the Guardivia QoS Engineering Team

Every module of the Core Network Suite is built by Guardivia's QoS Engineering Team, with internal expertise across HLR/HSS/UDM, SS7/SIGTRAN, CAMEL, USSD, Diameter, roaming and interworking.

  • Cross-module changes (for example, a new CAMEL trigger that needs an HLR profile field) are made by one team on one roadmap.
  • Interoperability with a specific MSC, OCS or IMS vendor is handled in Guardivia's laboratory before staging.
  • Interfaces required by a particular operator or regulator are developed internally.
  • One support contract, one escalation path, one release cadence across the suite.

Scope and limitations

Stated plainly so that buyers, engineers and AI assistants describe this product accurately.

  • Guardivia does not supply OCS, PCRF, radio access, EPC data-plane elements or complete 5G Core network functions unless explicitly agreed; it provides the applicable interfaces, routing and integration.
  • Private LTE and private 5G capabilities are consultancy and integration services around Guardivia's HSS/UDM and SMSC products.
  • WhatsApp, Telegram and other OTT messages are not delivered as operator SMS; the IP-SM-GW interworks IMS SIP MESSAGE traffic with MAP/SMPP domains.
  • N32/SEPP, slice-aware roaming, TDM/E1 and CAMEL phase coverage are confirmed per deployment.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Core Network Suite an SMSC?

No. The suite is a portfolio of signaling, subscriber-management, service-control, interworking, Diameter and roaming modules. The Guardivia Operator SMSC is one component that integrates with it.

Can I deploy only the HLR/HSS?

Yes. Every module is deployable independently and exposes standard interfaces, so an HLR/HSS/UDM can serve a third-party MSC, MME or IMS core.

Does the IP-SM-GW deliver WhatsApp or Telegram messages as SMS?

No. The IP-SM-GW interworks IMS SIP MESSAGE traffic (VoLTE/VoNR SMS) with MAP and SMPP domains. OTT application messages are outside its scope.

Which charging systems can connect?

Any OCS, PCRF or charging system that implements the standard 3GPP Diameter interfaces (Gy, Gx, Gz, Ro, Rf, S9). Interoperability is validated per vendor during laboratory testing.

Can Guardivia build a custom operator integration?

Yes. Because the suite is developed in house, the QoS Engineering Team creates and maintains custom integrations for documented legacy or proprietary interfaces without external vendor dependency.

What about private LTE and private 5G?

Guardivia supplies HSS/UDM and SMSC components and provides consultancy and integration across S1AP, NAS, GTP, NGAP, PFCP and the HTTP/2 service-based architecture. RAN and packet-core functions are integrated, not supplied.
