P2P SMS flows MO from one subscriber through the MSC to the SMSC and MT to the recipient after an SRI-SM lookup; it is priced conversationally and often unregulated for content.
Why it matters
Because P2P interconnects are cheap or free, fraudsters inject commercial traffic into them, which is why A2P/P2P separation is central to monetization.
